Travel guide

HI!

The following lines are intended to prepare your future trip and facilitate your arrival. But before that, a short introduction is in order. I am Stéphanie. I have lived in Martinique for 18 years with my husband and our 3 children. We like it a lot, which is why we decided 3 years ago to embark on this great project: to build 2 seasonal rental villas in order to receive travelers and share our love for this beautiful island. The construction lasted almost 18 months and it was quite an adventure! For the past year and a half, we have been renting out our 2 lovely villas and sharing our love for this beautiful island with each of our vacationers. We look forward to meeting you, showing you our villa and above all pampering you! In short, we will do our best to answer your questions and guide you throughout your stay to make it magical ...

USEFUL INFORMATION

Before your departure
Note for travelers with children: The child, to take the plane to Martinique, must have his own identity card or his own passport. Otherwise, he will not be able to leave France under any circumstances.
Cash
It is the same as in mainland France: the euro. Visa, Mastercard and American Express payment cards are accepted in most shops. For your currency needs, contact Change Caraibes at the airport.

Where to shop?
The Caraibes Price and U express supermarkets, located 300m away, as well as the Carrefour Génipa hypermarket, located 8 km away, are open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. La Guérande Bakery, located 800 meters away, is open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Cost of life
Be warned, life is relatively expensive. In question: the transport of goods by boat or by plane and the dock dues (a tax supposed to protect local production).

Electricity, Water, Telephone
We use 220V, 50Hz. Tap water is safe to drink everywhere on the island. Landline numbers all start with 0596…
Emergency / Health
If you need to see a doctor, in most medical offices, doctors see without an appointment in the morning from Monday to Friday. The airport medical center is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., without an appointment. But the wait in these centers can be very long (allow several hours). Likewise, emergencies in hospitals are saturated. Our advice (except in the event of a medical emergency), contact SOS MEDECINS on +(596)596633333 (a doctor will come to your home).

Car rental
Note that in Martinique, public transport is not well developed. To visit and enjoy your stay, it is necessary to be transported. For car rental, we recommend Carmen location: https://www.carmenlocation.com/. The vehicles are recent and thanks to their operation when customers arrive, you will avoid a very long wait, as is the case with large rental companies. The manager is called M. DESPOINTES, he can be reached on 0696 38 01 58. Tell him that you are staying at SeaCove & SeaSide Villas.

Dengue
Dengue epidemics occur regularly, as in all humid and warm areas of the world. This disease is transmitted by mosquitoes and results in symptoms similar to those of the flu.
But don't worry, our villas are well ventilated and we have few mosquitoes. We leave an anti-mosquito racket at your disposal and at night, the air conditioning in the rooms protects you.

COVID-19
As the health situation is constantly evolving, we invite you to consult regularly before your departure, the site of the Prefecture of Martinique:

What clothes should I pack in the suitcase?
Don't overload yourself with clothes and shoes. Provide fine and light cotton clothing. The humidity is very high on the island and the temperatures are hot. So, we can't stand synthetic clothes, long sleeves or thick pants. Tops and pants that are too close to the body are also difficult to bear. Here, we dress with ease! During the day, bring shorts and light tops, flip flops or open shoes. In the evening, bring a small, very light long-sleeved sweatshirt, as well as thin pants. For the beach, bring a swimsuit, sarong, hat or cap and sunscreen with maximum protection factor. Do not hesitate to bring after sun cream (in case of sunburn, it will be very useful). Beach towels are provided. A good pair of sneakers for tours and hikes is necessary.

What to do in Martinique?
When you arrive in your villa, you will find a guide a little more provided with all the activities, visits, outings, restaurants ... But in the meantime, here is a small non-exhaustive list of the 10 essential things to do in Martinique:
- Bask on the beautiful beaches of Sainte-Anne, (except weekends).
- Swim with sea turtles on the beach of Petite Anse or Anse Noire, then visit the pretty fishing village of Anses d'Arlets,
- Go for a walk, eat a pancake or an ice cream at the Village Créole in Trois-Ilets, it's very lively during the day and in the evening.
- Visit the Slave Savannah in Trois-Ilets,
-Taste a little rum at the Clément au François distillery,
-Take the maritime shuttle to Trois Ilets to visit Fort de France, Fort Saint Louis (listed as a historic monument) then the fruit and vegetable market.
- Explore the village of Grand Rivière in the north of the island, the "end of the line".
-Discover the Caravelle peninsula, in Tartane, visit the Dubuc castle, take the short hike and why not take a little surf lesson!
- Spend a day at the Diamant: visit the Anse Cafard Memorial, climb the Morne Larcher, take a few photos from the superb viewpoint, then have a picnic on the magnificent Diamant beach.
- Visit the Balata Botanical Garden and discover a magnificent and exceptional collection of tropical essences: anthuriums, hibiscus, porcelain roses, heliconias ... The show is magical!
I have listed a few activities here, but there are many other things to discover. For sports enthusiasts, there are many hikes to do. For diving enthusiasts, many diving clubs offer baptisms and outings ... For golf enthusiasts, the Golf des Trois-Ilets will satisfy you! For those who love the sea, many water activities are offered everywhere (jet ski, kite surfing, paddle boarding, surfing, water skiing, windsurfing, catamaran trips ...), There is something for everyone!
